MLM Conveying Systems is a designer, manufacturer and supplier of mechanical equipment solutions for materials handling and storage for all process stages in both the municipal and industrial markets, with experience dating from the 1960’s.  Applications served would include, residuals from dewatering, screening and grit removal equipment and foreign sludge receiving facilities; using shafted or shaftless conveyors transitioning to truck loading, composting, biogas/biofuels incineration or drying systems.  We offer decades of experience to assist in the execution of design engineering, project management, installation and aftermarket support, service and spare parts.

Conveyors – Screw

Shafted screw conveyors are used in thousands of industrial applications every day for efficiently conveying a variety of bulk materials. A screw conveyor’s main function is to transfer bulk materials from one process to another. Screw conveyors are very cost-effective and require minimal maintenance to operate.

Advantages of Using Screw Conveyors

  • Ideal for handling fry to semi-fluid materials – free-flowing the sluggish
  • Cost-effective when compared to other conveying devices such as belt, pneumatic, or aero-mechanical conveyors
  • Efficiently distributes bulk materials to various locations using multiple inlet and discharge points
  • Totally enclosed fro corrosive or hazardous requirements

Available Features / Options

  • Custom engineered for your specific application
  • Wide range of construction materials – carbon steel, stainless steel, and abrasion-resistant alloys
  • Flight configurations available for mixing and chopping
  • Desgins available for cooling and heating products utilizing jacketed housings

Shafted Conveyors

MLM Shafted Conveyor systems are specifically designed for each municipal or industrial biosolids storage and handling system. These robust heavy-duty systems utilize specially developed screw conveyors in various configurations as the heart of the system.

Compare the “robustness” of MLM systems to that of standard CEMA screw conveyors, which were developed for bulk, free flowing dry materials and not specifically for Municipal biosolids. Misapplication of these technologies have resulted in numerous operating and mechanical problems, creating maintenance intensive operations.

MLM shafted screw conveyors can be provided in several configurations including horizontal, inclined and vertical, and full flight, ribbon flight, fixed or variable paddle arrangements.

Shaftless Conveyors

The heart of any shaftless conveying system is the shaftless spiral. MLM offers the strongest and most robust spirals manufactured from high tensile alloy steels, cold formed in a multitude of close tolerance diameters and pitches up to 30 inches in diameter.

This high strength alloy steel construction gives MLM Shaftless screw conveyors systems higher torque capabilities and longer life due to high abrasion resistance. Low operating speeds also add to longer operating life.

MLM Shaftless Screw Conveyor Systems are ideal solutions for:

  • Grit and Screenings Conveyance
  • Aerated Grit Tank Conveyance
  • Organic Wastes
  • Compost Materials
  • Biomass and Biofuel Conveyance
  • Pulp and Paper
  • Wineries
  • Slaughterhouse and Rendering Plants

Vertical Screw Conveyors

MLM shafted and shaftless Screw Conveyors are ideal for vertical conveying. As MLM fabricates its own spirals or shafted rotors, MLM can design the best solution to meet the requirements of your application. Vertical conveyors are an efficient process for elevating biosolids and the compact layout allows for the conveyor to fit in almost any plant layout.

Shafted Vertical Conveying

The high RPM of the balanced conveyor creates a centrifugal force which propels the product toward the outer casing. The closed casing ensures that the product is properly distributed across the circumference and the product is spiraled to the discharge at the top.

  • Large capacities at small sizes – larger capacities than are possible with a shaftless vertical conveyor – up to 160m3/hr or 5600ft3/hr!
  • Enclosed and dust free
  • Reliable operation

Shaftless Vertical Conveying

The vertical shaftless conveyor system is feed from a horizontal conveyor which creates a “plug” in the casing, which then fills the tube allowing the spiral to lift the material to the top discharge. The lower RPM of the shaftless vertical systems are very efficient systems that offers:

  • Larger capacities than shafted at similar sizes.
  • Enclosed and dust free
  • Reliable operation
  • No centre tube to have stringy materials wrap around
  • Low HP
  • Long-life
  • No tail end bearing
