Open Channel Flowmeters
Open Channel Flowmeters
Open channel flowmeters are used to measure the flow rate in open channels, partially filled pipes and waterways. These devices are used in applications like wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and irrigation systems. Area/velocity flow meters are based on the principle that the volumetric flow rate (Q) is equal to the flow velocity (V) multiplied by the cross-sectional area (A) of the flow stream (Q=V x A). They operate by measuring the velocity of the fluid and, in a known or measured area, determining the total flow rate using this relationship.
